Karen Ward (left) and Annabelle Rose (right), both aged 12, presented a cheque for 330 to Mrs Janet Simmonds, who has had open-heart surgery and is the secretary of the Witney Fundraising Committee of the British Heart Foundation. The money was raised through a sponsored skip by over 100 second year students at Burford School, with some of the teachers joining in. The sponsored skip was held over two evenings, and the funds raised will be split between the British Heart Foundation and buying school sports equipment. Skipping ropes were all that was needed to raise 330 for a heart research charity. Over 100 second year Burford School pupils, aged 12 and 13, put in an energetic spell of sponsored skip- ping to raise the money. The sponsored skip, joined by some of the teachers, was held over two evenings at the school and altogether raised 441, a quarter of which has been retained for buying school sports equipment. Second year pupils hope to raise further money for heart research dur- ing their Activities Week in July.
