On August 13, three Kidlington Girl Guides, Ann Keegan (14), Christine Weller (13) and Pauline Blake (14), began a 53-mile trek along the Thames, accompanied by their leader Mrs. Eileen Perrin (66). The group walked from the Thames’s source, three miles south-west of Cirencester, to Oxford, camping out in two tents and cooking their meals over a primus stove. After six days of hiking, the group arrived in Oxford on August 20, proud to have achieved their goal of walking the entire length of the Thames.On August 13, three Kidlington Girl Guides, Ann Keegan (14), Christine Weller (13) and Pauline Blake (14), began a 53-mile trek along the Thames, accompanied by their leader Mrs. Eileen Perrin (66).
