On October 8, 1968, a press photograph was released showing a comparison of two different methods of doing laundry. On the left side of the photograph is a modern washing machine, the Hoovermatic De Luxe, which is an automatic twin-tub washing machine with an exclusive system of deep rinsing. On the right side of the photograph is a traditional method of doing laundry from the late 1800s, when mechanical washing machines were unheard of. The photograph was released to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Hoover Company, an American company founded in 1908 by the late Mr. W. H.
