Two Oxford University students, Veronica Buckle of Davenhouse Close, Eynsham, and Amanda Semper of Iffley Road, Oxford, joined forces to raise money for muscular dystrophy research through a rowing challenge. The rowers, from Lady Margaret Hall and Wolfson College, set out to row 20 miles down the Thames but had to turn back near Abingdon Lock due to the speed of the water. Despite not completing their intended challenge, the team hopes to have raised more than 1,000 through sponsorship.
