On October 23, 2000, members of Unison, a UK trade union, gathered at Oxford Town Hall to protest against the proposed cuts and closures of public leisure centers. Among the rally attendees were Peter Challis, Branch Committee for Oxford County Unison Branch; John Tanner; Martin Gregory, Unison Branch Secretary; and Imogen Clarke, 5, from Cowley. The demonstrators held up signs that read “Hands Off!
