5 MAY 23 VISITORS to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford are striking with lucky special souvenirs. A coin maker from Devon was invited to make special medals out of copper and silver, and visitors were able to watch the work in progress. The medals with Charles II on one side and three C’s on the other have been designed in cele- bration of the Museum’s 300th birthday. Mr David Holland made hundreds of the medals by heating up the metal until it was red hot; placing it carefully into a die and then striking it hard with a large sledge-hammer to make the impression. They will be sold in the Museum for 1 for copper and 6 for silver. m3/7 3×9 Col- 54%
