CIUDONG NAN Se Prizewinning Anna turns on poster power SCHOOLGIRL Anna Barnsley’s poster proved a prize winner in a competition run by Southern Electricity. Anna, 14, of Church Street, Kingham, drew a poster showing the role of electricity now and in the future. She and her prize-winning work are pictured left. Anna, a fourth year pupil at Chipping Norton School beat more than 1,000 others to win the top prize of 200 for her school and 40 for herself. 9 OVE ELECTRICITY 10 THE KEY ods National Westminster Bank PLC CHOOL Visit Chipping Norton School entered 30 posters. Anna and Jonathan Fletcher, 14, of The Leys, Chipping Norton, came first and second in the Cotswold division, winning a total of 175 for the school and 35 for themselves. Anna travelled to London with Mr John Woolridge, head of physics at the school. After a guided tour of the Science Museum, Anna learned that her entry had come first. Anna, who loves art, took several hours to draw her final poster. It was the first time she had entered a competition. She has not yet decided what to do with her prize money. Her day in London finished with a visit to see Starlight Express with a trip backstage to meet the stars. “It was a marvellous day,” she said. Anna’s poster will now be entered for a national competition run by the Electricity Council. 20 DEC 1988
