On 17th February 1980, 14-year-old Jonathon Earnshaw of Lakeside, Oxford was awarded the highest ranking badge a Sea Scout can receive under the age of 16. He was presented with the badge by Lt. Commander D. Uden during his annual inspection of the 42 Oxford Sea Scouts troop based at Leckford Road, Oxford.
