Brig Eric Darlow has retired from his 17-year-long tenure as President of the Farmoor Fly Fishing Club. As a mark of appreciation, a new lake at Hardwick was named after him as the ‘Darlow Water’. At the club’s annual meeting at Farmoor, he was presented with gifts such as a ship’s decanter, glasses, a trout rod, reel and line, as well as a bouquet of flowers for his wife, Mrs. Elsie Darlow. A lasting testimonial has been the naming of the club’s new lake at Hard- wick, Darlow Water, as a mark of appreciation. At the club’s annual meeting at Farmoor the Brigadier, who lives in East End, North Leigh, was presented with a ship’s de- canter and glasses on behalf of the club’s committee and a trout rod, reel and line on behalf of the club. He was also made an hon- orary life member of the club and has agreed to carry on serving the club as an advisor. A bouquet of flowers was presented to his wife Mrs Elsie Darlow. The new president elect of the club, which also fish- es the Farmoor One reser- voir, is Mr Cyril Barker, of Eynsham, who has been a committee member for more than 20 years. This year club members had a good season catching more than 13,500 rainbow and brown trout from Far- moor One and the Darlow Water, including 1,048 top- ping 21b.
