On April 8, 1963, the West Indies cricket touring team disembarked from the liner Golfito at Avonmouth, Bristol. The team had spent the night in the liner in Walton Bay and encountered some rough weather during their voyage from Jamaica. Although the weather at Avonmouth was much colder than the 90 degrees they had left Jamaica in, the team was in good spirits and manager Mr. Berkeley Gaskin expressed hopes that they would maintain the reputation gained in Australia and possibly even enhance it. The team included manager and assistant manager, Mr. Harold Burnett, and 12 players, with Garfield Sobers and Wesley Hall joining the party from Australia. On April 8, 1963, the West Indies cricket touring team disembarked from the liner Golfito at Avonmouth, Bristol.
