On September 28th, 1978, three-year-old Andrew Francis and his father visited the Wantage Museum railway exhibition. The exhibition, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington railway and the opening of the National Railway Museum in York, featured a model of the first train of the Stockton and Darlington railway in 1825, a stand devoted to the steam locomotive and its pioneers, a model of a broad-gauge train crossing a Brunel timber viaduct, and models of complete trains in their 20th century heyday.On September 28th, 1978, three-year-old Andrew Francis and his father visited the Wantage Museum railway exhibition.
