On April 23, 1992, repairmen unearth a 1797 copy of The Times during repair work to a council-owned office in Woodstock, England. Town clerk Mrs Ann Cooper shows off the newspaper, which contains a story on the death of the Scottish poet Robbie Burns. WOODSTOCK town councillors are hang- ing on to a little bit of history found under the floor of an old building. Three fragile and fading newspapers dating back to the 1790s were discovered during repair work to a council-owned office in Park Street. Love been handed over to the town hitect in charge of the One of the papers, a copy of The Times dated April 197 contains a story on the death of the Scottish poet Robbie Burns. Town clerk Mrs Ann Cooper said: “We don’t know how the papers came to be in the building but we are delighted to have them in our archives.” 23 APR 1992
