Jonathan Shephard, 23, an English graduate reading for a law degree, was awarded the Chancellor’s English Essay Prize for his essay on “Exile,” worth approximately 85. Neil Rhodes, 18, a first-year undergraduate reading English, was awarded Sir Roger Newdigate’s Prize for English verse with a poem entitled “Ancestral Face,” worth approximately 50. This is the first time, certainly in recent years, that two prizes have been awarded to members of the same college.
