On January 11th, 1984, Keith Warren and George Hunt were counting their lucky stars after they fell 30ft from the top of a building when it unexpectedly collapsed beneath them. Mr. Warren was left uninjured, while Mr. Hunt suffered minor injuries and shock. The two men had been working on the third floor of the building when the front wall fell away and the ceiling they were standing on suddenly collapsed. Had the nearby bus stop still been in use, the number of victims could have been far greater. On January 11th, 1984, Keith Warren and George Hunt were counting their lucky stars after they fell 30ft from the top of a building when it unexpectedly collapsed beneath them. KHTH WARREN M3/7 118 JAN 1984 Falling Two workmen plunged 30ft from the top of the building when it collapsed beneath them. Keith Warren and George Hunt were counting their good fortune today Mr Warren was unhurt, his colleague injuries and shock. needed hospital treatment for only minor Shortly after his fall yesterday, Mr War- ren said: “The first thing I knew was that I was falling through the building with concrete all around me. “The ceiling just gave way. It happened very, very fast. There wasn’t time to think. “A piece of concrete hit me as I fell, but shocked.” only my legs are hurting. I just feel Mr Warren said he and Mr Hunt had been working on the third floor of the building when it collapsed. As the front wall fell away the ceiling they were stand- ing on just fell from under their feet. Both men come from London, and were working for the demolition company T. E. Scudder. The bus stop which was mangled by falling masonry had been taken out of use last Friday and a temporary stop for the busy Cowley and Blackbird Leys service set up outside Currys, about 50 yards away. The service is the busiest and most frequent in the city. Had the stop still been in use the number of victims could have been far greater. Crowds
